The changelog is huge, but its key additions are 60FPS support, new graphical options, and hundreds of bug fixes. Codename: Wandering Sword stars a young lad who is promptly poisoned after getting caught up in a feud between sects. When he gets saved by another sect’s leader, he decides to become a proper hardcore Wuxia warrior, which entails a lot of travelling around the game’s open-world to pick up new moves. Aforesaid world is built in Unreal Engine 4, blending pixel art with 3D environments like Squeenix’s Octopath Traveler, Triangle Strategy and, I assume eventually, Dodecahedron First-Person Shooter....

I’ve no doubt that fans of these two grizzled soldiers will be delighted that they’ve been commanded back onto the battlefield of PC games. But as faithful as their rearming has been, they’re still working to a set of mechanics that are old enough to join the army themselves. The question, and the reason for this whole tortured allegory, remains: will these very old games have what it takes to conquer new hearts?...

Does a game need a scifi plot to explain its contrivances? No, but I appreciate that CrimeSight has one. In London, 2075, a system called Foresight AI is able to predict crime before it happens, leading to a 90% drop in crime rates worldwide. When the system predicts an “unavoidable incident”, the makers of Foresight produce a new AI designed to stop crime, which they dub “Sherlock”. Sherlock, in turn, uncovers an evil AI… called Moriarity....

Paradox released this video detailing the features present in the DLC: Flavour packs are described by Paradox as being smaller than a full expansion. Here, the Northern Lords DLC adds various forms of Norse spice to the already meaty strategy game. That includes dressing your leaders up in Viking hairstyles and tunics, new events inspired by Norse history, the ability to go adventuring and establish new kingdoms in foreign lands, and new music....

It was an ambitious project, that whole Final Fantasy XV Universe nonsense, and there’s still a part of me that can’t quite believe that Square Enix managed to get away with it all. I mean, what other game has tried stuffing so many of its critical plot lines into a hundred different bits of media before its actual release since? Zero. CD Projekt Red, on the other hand, might have finally cracked this whole ‘wider universe’ thing, and I really, really hope they actually manage to pull it off....

Here’s a little vid of me messing around with some cool cosmetics mods (warning: V’s chrome boobs are very much out in this because one of the mods just didn’t want to clothe them). The first one you’ll see is “Crazy Potato’s” Chrome V mod. I like this one a lot. I’m always very jealous of the various NPCs with weird futuristic skin textures, and I’m baffled why that isn’t an official option for players....

The main attraction is specific quests that have been altered. For example, in the quest Automatic Love, walking into a wall inside a lift will not cause instant death anymore. Also you can shower in the Nomad Camp now. A handful of Gigs have been sorted out too. The majority of the fixes left aren’t very substantial. They’ve fixed cars randomly spawning in traffic when driving too fast, vehicles summoned by the player spawning far away, and they’ve also corrected some animations and displaced objects in certain scenes....

The high level concept for this game is Left 4 Dead meets Minecraft, both undeniably influential games that, personally, I don’t have much enthusiasm for. Let me tell you why Deep Rock Galactic - a game that the phrase ‘more than the sum of its parts’ could have been invented for - is an absolute gem. That desperate rush I described above was the exfiltration phase. You’ve explored the tunnels, fought back the giant bugs trying to stop you....

And thanks to a last-minute hotfix, we can be sure that boss tactics will be a bit more varied than using stasis warlocks to nuke ’em into oblivion. The Vanguard Strikes Cross Play Beta playlist will run from Tuesday, May 25th to Thursday the 27th. It’ll throw players from Steam, Xbox, PlayStation, and Stadia together willy-nilly to see how it all works. No, no PvP. No, no you can’t invite your console pals to party up. Just Strikes with randos. But hey! If you complete three Strikes in the special playlist, you’ll earn the Stars Crossed emblem: Cross-platform play was briefly enabled at the start of the current season, but only by accident....

As Trials match intros revealed enemy loadouts this weekend, I would repeat the wish: “Please be jumpers.” Sweaty meta guns like Steady Hand and Felwinter’s Lie? Hard luck. But weird weapon choices? Please be jumpers. You’d know for certain within the first ten seconds, if you saw three death notifications. Going by what I saw and reports from other players, it was happening a fair bit. Trials Of Osiris is a 3v3 mode running only on weekends....

During a charity livestream for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital last year, Bungie said they’d look into making a toaster if they raised $777,777.77 (they do love their sevens). Well, fans donated over $800k, so here we are. Last night Bungie announced that you can now pre-order the toaster. It costs $85 (£60) and 10% of profits from sales will go to St. Jude’s. You also get a toasty in-game emblem to decorate your profile: The black and gold plastic toaster is emblazoned with the hand logo of the Rasmussen family (co-founders of the Black Armory), just like the real Jötunn....

In the original Destiny, Trials Of Osiris was a 3v3 PvP mode which ran on weekends. Teams had the grand goal of winning nine matches in a row, facing tougher opponents each time, to score exclusive loot. Longtime Destiny 2 players will have seen something similar – though gentler – in the Trials Of The Nine mode which hasn’t been seen since 2018. Bungie are a bit light on specifics of how Trials Of Osiris will work this time around but I’d assume the same broad plan....

For a lot of other people, Median XL succeeds where Diablo 3 fails, by vastly expanding its character skill trees and loot while remaining within the original spirit of the series. Over ten years, Median XL has been further expanded and refined, and if you haven’t played it before then the currently available version 1....

You play a cute little explorer venturing into a vast alien disc which appears near Jupiter in the future (nicely, it’s coded to always take place 69 years from now). Turns out, this disc is filled with more discs, little and big jagged spinning disc which crave your blood. Each level is a small room where you simply have to survive as buzzsaws bounce and whirr around. See a disc coming?...

You can find Doom Fighters over on ModDB, which creator “edypagaza” calls “pure brawling action”. Spot all the excellent fisticuffs down here in the Doom Fighters trailer, showing off Doom Slayer in his 3D, third-person glory. There’s all the one-two punching, which is grand, of course. Picking enemies up and hurling them across rooms looks terribly satisfying as well. If that’s not enough though, oh look, there’s the Doom Eternal’s giant, red Crucible sword too....

Placing down tiles opens up more tile spaces, as you start building in different directions of the board. Tiles come with various different geographical features, such as houses, trees or rivers, and often have two or three of these at once....
